NSW digital driver's licence stalls under load

Users told to 'try again later'.

The NSW digital driver’s licence is undergoing its first real-world test, with the Service NSW app that hosts it apparently unable to keep up with the load.

The digital driver’s licence was opened up to all NSW licence holders overnight but as word spread, so did problems with the service.

Though iTnews was able to create a licence last night, the app today wanted the licence to be regenerated, before throwing up an error.

Other first-time users hit up Twitter, noting the app appeared to have crashed and was telling people it was “a little busy”.

The New South Wales #DigitalDriversLicence is now available, but the app keeps crashing.

“Many people are loading their digital licences right now. Please try again later,” the app advised.

The impact of the app issues appeared to be unevenly spread, however, with some users still reportedly able to load their licence first time.

Service NSW has been contacted for comment.
