Swimming Australia dives into AWS cloud and analytics deal

For engagement and talent scouting.

The country’s peak body for swimming, Swimming Australia has unveiled a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver cloud and data analytics solutions to increase engagement and talent scouting with its 90,000-strong member base.

Swimming Australia said the push to quickly share race data and use it for its own analytics purposes will help “uncover the next wave of Australian talent” in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The analytics solutions will be rolled out nationally across the organisation’s 1000 member clubs, with the potential to create new swimming meet formats and optimise swimmers’ performance at earlier in their swimming careers.

It’s also hoped the greater connectivity between clubs will foster more meaningful experiences for fans and athletes, which Swimming Australia chief executive Leigh Russell said has always been a challenge to deliver, especially in conjunction with real-time analytics.

“We are now able to modernise our sport’s business operations and work on a number of projects that will help to connect and build the swimming tribe, bringing incredible moments of inspiration to Australians through the sport of swimming,” Russell said in a statement.

Swimming Australia joins the likes of the Wallabies and, global Formula One Motorsport and the United States’ NFL in turning to AWS to increase its cloud and data capabilities.
