Twitter is fighting back against NSA surveillance by encrypting its direct messaging service to bolster the privacy of its users.
The social networking site was also working on other “new security measures” and was among prominent tech giants looking to increase defenses following the NSA leaks by former defence contractor Edward Snowden.
Last month, Twitter introduced a big change to the site by allowing all users to direct message anyone on the service instead of limiting it only to individuals who follow one another.
