NBN Co to expand access, identity systems

Signs contract worth more than $2m.

NBN Co has contracted systems integrator Qubit Consulting to extend the capability of its identity and access management systems.

The deal, which is expected to be worth in excess of $2 million, builds on subcontracting work performed by Qubit while NBN Co and Accenture stood up the current identity and access systems.

Qubit director John Jones told iTnews that his team would work on building out the capabilities of the systems already in place and upgrading existing systems to newer software versions.

Projects may also include the rollout of additional product capabilities that sit within the Oracle identity and access management stack.

Jones said NBN Co would issue statements of work for individual projects required under the contract.

Oracle software underpins a large portion of NBN Co's business software systems.

The identity and access systems are used to manage IT - rather than physical - security, such as access to NBN Co's internal shared IT services.

Jones expected to be working directly with NBN Co "for at least a couple of years".

"We hope to be there longer," he said.

"We've got a pretty good track record of staying in camps. People tend to like what we do so hopefully once we get in we'll have a long running relationship."

Qubit Consulting is based on Sydney's Northern Beaches and counts a number of former Sun Microsystems employees among its staff.
