Red Rock Consulting snaps up Tripoint

Eyes growth in PeopleSoft, managed services.

UXC-owned Red Rock Consulting has boosted its managed services and PeopleSoft capabilities with the buyout of Sydney-based IT firm Tripoint.

Red Rock CEO Jonathan Rubinsztein told iTnews that Tripoint's 50 staff and IT systems had already been transitioned across.

Although Red Rock's managed services team was currently split across two office locations in Sydney, staff would be brought together onto level five of its Clarence Street CBD office in October.

Rubinsztein said that Red Rock had also taken over Tripoint's customer base.

He saw the acquisition as assisting Red Rock's growth strategy, which had been to "identify horizontal spaces" in Oracle's product portfolio where it could "take a leadership position in".

The acquisition consisted of two separate Tripoint businesses - a consulting arm and a managed services arm.

Rubinsztein hoped that Tripoint's consulting arm would give Red Rock an advantage in servicing PeopleSoft projects in Australia and New Zealand.

While the managed service portion of Tripoint gave Red Rock some capability in delivering PeopleSoft managed services, it would more importantly provide Red Rock with the ability to deliver "end-to-end managed service offerings", according to Rubinsztein.

Red Rock's managed service business was previously focused mostly on hosting Oracle applications, database and middleware technology, although it did have a small hosted infrastructure business that included managing Exadata platforms for an unnamed credit union.

Red Rock's total managed services business now exceeds 150 staff Australia-wide.

Rubinsztein said Red Rock is hoping to double revenue and profit over the next three years, as it had done over the past three years.

"Hopefully [Tripoint] will be one of the parts of our growth strategy," he said.

The company is also eyeing an expanded presence in Western Australia, particularly to pursue state government work.

"We have taken on two very senior people in Western Australia to help drive our WA growth plans," he said.
