ISP iPrimus claims to have signed its first school onto the NBN in Tasmania, giving 128 students access to 100 Mbps broadband services.
The St Peter Chanel Catholic primary school in the first release site of Smithton, Tasmania had its Extreme 100 Mbps connection turned on today.
The school had previously been using ADSL-based internet services.
The school had also put in a high speed WAN [wide area network] with the help of systems integrator Saturn Communications. The WAN included Juniper router hardware.
School principal Clynton Scharvi said he was excited by the potential that a high-speed fibre connection would give students.
