  Editor's Note

Good morning,

Welcome to our special Budget 2014 edition of the iTnews newsletter.

We have been up all night scouring the budget papers to bring you the news that will impact on IT.

John Hilvert reports from Budget lock-up to bring us a wrap of all the funded (and un-funded) IT initiatives unveiled this year.

He also writes about Information Commissioner John McMillan's 'disappointment' at the sudden decision to scrap the OAIC.

The Government has set a funding deadline for the NBN, NICTA and possibly health records too, after which the projects will need to seek other revenue. But it is not all doom and gloom. Australia is also set to receive its largest ever supercomputer.

@ScooterDMC @iTnews_au Pretty obvious. He'll sell #NBN to @Telstra and we'll be back where we were. Cities get shafted, country gets nothing
