  Editor's Note

Good morning,

In 2013, is it acceptable for the online store of one of Australia's largest retailers to be down for a full week? Questions are likely to be asked of Myer's IT suppliers in the wake of its outage, which is likely to continue for some days yet.

Astute readers may have noticed iTnews suffered an unplanned outage of our own over the weekend of December 21 and 22.

This was a small blip in the otherwise smooth transition of iTnews to our new parent company, Next Media, which acquired our little operation earlier this month.

I'd like to personally apologise for the outage - the number of complaints from readers wanting to access iTnews on the weekend before Christmas was both concerning and flattering!

I wonder how the NSA supply chain interception stuff works. Covert? Or explicit relationships with suppliers, shippers?
