Dodo chief executive Larry Kestelman has confirmed this afternoon that a "minor hardware issue" on its routing system led to the 35-minute outage of potentially thousands of services nationally this afternoon.

Telstra routers downed for 35 minutes.

Dodo has confirmed a "minor hardware issue" was at fault for causing an outage on Telstra servers that affected potentially thousands of services nationally and multiple service providers.

The outage, which lasted approximately 35 minutes this afternoon, affected an international link used by major service providers Telstra, Optus and iiNet for ADSL and 3G data services nationwide.

Telstra said it had solved the issue but was still investigating what caused it.

Network engineers had suspected a router issue from Dodo's network had caused the issue.
