Good afternoon,

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has assumed the Australian Government's cyber security responsibilities as part of a wide-ranging cabinet reshuffle announced this morning.

The move coincides with Robert McClelland's departure as Attorney-General - previously overseeing the role - and the appointment of health minister Nicola Roxon as the country's first female in the position.

Roxon appointed first female Attorney-General as McClelland sidelined.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has assumed responsibility for the Australian Government's cyber security policy in a wide-ranging reshuffle of federal cabinet announced this morning.

The announcement - ignored in Julia Gillard's speech to media this morning but included in a transcript made available later - will see the Attorney-General's Department lose responsibilities for the policy.

The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet has been contacted for comment.
