EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

It's a huge edition today. Dell has announced plans to buy Wyse, the Federal Government is looking at opening up cloud services to a larger group of service providers, and Equinix has accelerated expansion plans for its Sydney data centre.

That last story is well worth a look - bets are being laid down in the iTnews office that this acceleration has a little to do with a company called Amazon Web Services, which has a policy of not disclosing where its racks are. (I call this Fog Computing.)

If AWS does launch local services here soon, it is bound to have a dramatic impact on the SMB market. I'm just now closing off a poll on the front page - of 1281 respondents, over 82 percent of iTnews readers have concerns about their e-mail being hosted offshore.
