Optus snaps up infosec firm Hivint

Three year old consultancy bought out.

Optus is set to buy three year old cyber security consultancy Hivint, with the company to be incorporated into the Trustwave security arm of Singtel and Optus.

The telco said that one of Hivint’s assets was its ‘security colony’, a “software-as-a-service platform that allows subscribers to access a library containing information security management systems, policies, standards, and templates derived from Hivint’s consulting engagements with hundreds of enterprises”.

Hivint co-founder Nick Ellsmore said in a statement that Singtel’s Trustwave provided a “genuinely compelling vision and a great opportunity for the Hivint team on many levels.”

Fairfax reported that the acquisition was worth around $23 million.
