EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

There haven't been many longer running court battles as that of Telstra and Optus over the alleged misuse of confidential traffic data in the 90s.

Optus had alleged that information gleaned from calls originating and terminating on the Telstra Wholesale network had been used within the incumbent to create marketing and promotion attacks against it.

The Court ruled in Optus' favour late Thursday. The only thing that remains is for Optus to establish the extent of the breach of its access agreement with Telstra to determine damages.
