After all the talk about IBM courting Sun, and on who might make the first move to reinstate talks on a possible merger, few expected Oracle to make a move.

But they have, adding Sun to a rather impressive line of big-name acquisitions in the IT industry.

The acquisition, among other things, is expected to generate more revenue for Oracle than PeopleSoft, Siebel and BEA combined...
