EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

Telstra appears to have leapfrogged the Communications Alliance with a tough new stance on rogue premium SMS providers.

It comes on the back of weeks of heightened debate on the issue - firstly over the lack of an industry code of conduct, and secondly over whether or not the code that was finally released a couple of weeks ago goes far enough.

It will be interesting to see what the Communications Alliance thinks about this development and whether it forces them to toughen their stance, too.
