EDITOR'S NOTE

Good Afternoon,

Tensions between the Federal Government and the internet industry are not going to ease any further after Senator Stephen Conroy's latest speech.

In Conroy's mind, the plumbers of the internet also have a role as the web's police. And not just to protect us from harmful content, but also to protect the integrity of copyright law.

With an NBN decision well overdue, an internet filtering trial underway and iiNet's Federal Court battle set down for October, the events of 2009 are likely to shape our Internet experience for some time to come.
