Good morning,

It seems for years we've been hearing the promises of autonomous computing - now it seems the concept is being applied in networking as well.

Cisco want to see networks become more 'aware' of video packet streams flowing across them to cut jitter and lag. They also want more end-point awareness, so the network 'knows' how to optimise the stream based on the end user access device.

Alcatel-Lucent is also working on similar bit stream prioritisation technologies in the carrier space. Could be a trend in '09...
