We're always excited to lead the newsletter with Aussie-developed technology and so the concept of having a smart fridge - or airconditioner or tumble dryer - was too good to pass up.

CSIRO researchers in Newcastle have successfully trialled a new controller that enables fridges to communicate with each other on the best times to consume electricity.

It's all IP-based communication between the units, and while lab tests have shown potential for networks of 10,000 fridges or more, a commercial partner is needed to enable a real-world trial of the technology.
