EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

We lead with news that Westpac will give its online banking customers a free 12-month subscription to the PC Tools Internet security software suite.

The deal follows an apparently successful 12 months of providing similar offers of the software to its customers.

It has to be said it's unclear exactly what's in it for Westpac - and PC Tools wasn't particularly forthcoming on who was subsidising all those free licenses.

We'll keep you updated when we know more - but in the meantime, looks like it could be one of the more cost-effective ways of getting security software onto your desktop in time for 2009...
