EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

The government's controversial net filtering plan hit a pretty major wall late yesterday, with Telstra BigPond wanting nothing to do with the technical trials.

Undisclosed 'customer management issues' are behind the refusal - Telstra wouldn't elaborate further, although some of the potential issues in this area are relatively well known, at least in the ISP community.

The government will likely still forge ahead with its tests, but it makes me wonder how many other large ISPs are going to volunteer their customer base for the controversial plan, especially now.
