EDITOR'S NOTE

Morning all!

The cloud just seems to keep marching on. Our headline story has some obviously cheeky references to a certain Time magazine front cover in '94.

At the time it freaked out desktop heavyweights Microsoft enough to throw a lot of money at it to go away - and it kind of did, at least for a while.

It's taken a good 12-14 years to resurface again with strength, but looking at the market this time, it would be hard to imagine anyone treating the cloud the same way as Netscape.

Even Microsoft acknowledges the cloud is here to stay and is largely the future of computing - but at the expense of its desktop OS business? Well, that's an entirely different story...

Remember - it's the LAST DAY to go into the draw for our $1,000 Christmas bonus giveaway. All you have to do is take 10 minutes to fill out our 2009 iTnews job survey, which you can start here www.itnews.com.au/survey.
