EDITOR'S NOTE

Morning all,

An interesting little piece to kick off this week, on the mysterious role of the interim CIO.

Writer David Neal points out they're not just 'seat warmers' but agents of change. It's feasible they can achieve more, too, if they use their temporary status to stay out of office politics and away from hidden agendas.

It's interesting because IT in general seems to be positioning itself as an agent of change. One hopes that the change process instituted by the interim continues to evolve after they move on, too - although that might remove any future justification for bringing an interim onboard. Let us know what you think.

Also, don't forget our 2009 iTnews jobs survey closes on Wednesday. For your last chance at that $1,000 Christmas bonus get things started here www.itnews.com.au/survey.
