Good afternoon.

In this afternoon’s iTnewswire, HP has agreed to acquire Voodoo, a maker of high end PCs for gamers, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition comes several months after Dell purchased Alienware, another high end PC manufacturer.

Sun Microsystems is looking to boost its identity management offerings with the acquisition of Neogent. The company’s products help businesses keep track of accounts, email addresses, and other user-specific information for both employees and customers.

Consumer electronics equipment is being transformed by networking technology. The sector is in the midst of a "major shift" as Wi-Fi networking becomes a key enabler for the delivery and redistribution of entertainment content in the home.

Microsoft has unveiled Mac Messenger 6, an update to the Mac OS X version of its Windows instant messaging client. The update is the first Universal application launched by Microsoft for Intel-based Macs.

Fewer than 40 percent of companies enforce a security policy for employees with mobile devices, an industry report has found.
