Welcome to the afternoon edition of the iTnewswire.

This afternoon, the EU has decided to take a closer look at Microsoft’s Office 2007. The lab rats at TechWeb have also taken a close look at Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh.

AMD and Intel may be the two big names in microchips but programmable microchips made by Xilinx and Altera are now posed to outgrow the broader chip market.

Hollywood is being urged to throw its weight behind the push for more mobile content. Sony is also realising the importance of content, pledging to buy a 27 percent stake in Gamepot, an operator of a popular online golf game.

Is the local mobile content industry to deal with an onslaught of Hollywood content? Downloaded the Office 2007 Beta? Much of an improvement? Mail us with your comments.
