This morning, PeopleSoft founder Dave Duffield, who lost the software maker in a hostile takeover by Oracle, returned to the industry on Monday with a new company looking to challenge his larger rival.

Also making news, Vodafone has unveiled plans to become the first mobile operator to standardise the software on its handsets, striking a deal with Microsoft and saying it will work with just two other software providers.
