This afternoon, former Computer Associates chief executive Sanjay Kumar has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and a US$8m fine for his role in the software enterprise management software vendor's US$2.2bn accounting scandal.

Also making news, Microsoft is expected to unveil a new partnership with Novell that aims to bolster the interoperability of Windows and the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
