Welcome to this morning’s iTnewswire.

This morning, IBM has announced a multi-pronged effort to simplify use of the machines by 2011. The IBM System z Mainframe Simplification program will focus on training technology administrators and programmers to administer mainframe systems

Google boss Eric Schmidt believes the Internet will offer services such as being able to check instantly whether or not statements made by politicians were correct, within five years.

Microsoft has unveiled anti-piracy plans for Windows Vista that take tougher measures against users of counterfeit software, including limiting protection against spyware and incapacitating the PC. Not everyone welcomed the measures.

Apple has said an internal probe has found that chief executive Steve Jobs knew about some backdating of stock options, but did not benefit from the practice. The company has also said that Fred Anderson, Apple's former chief financial officer, has resigned from the board, saying that he believed it was in the best interests of the computer maker.

Social-networking sites could give hackers a backdoor into corporate IT platforms and databases, putting businesses at risk for malicious cyber attacks as more adults access these sites from computers at work, according to CA and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA).

Do social networking sites pose a risk to your organisation? Can’t figure out how IBM mainframes work? Why not mail your comments.
