Welcome to the afternoon edition of the iTnewswire.

This afternoon, the NAB has been on the receiving end of a denial of service attack (DoS) blocking of access to the bank’s site and causing slow log-ons for internet banking customers.

Renegade Russian music website AllofMP3.com has had its payment facilities through Visa International and MasterCard suspended following concerns over the legality of its operation.

After a short sabbatical, former Allied Telesyn boss Mark Jackson has opened an Australian operation for US-based Ruckus Wireless, a company that manufactures hardware for streaming multimedia content throughout the home.

Sony chief financial officer Nobuyuki Oneda has that a total of 9.6 million Sony-made notebook PC batteries could be subject to the company's global recall.

Check Point Software Technologies has said its third-quarter net income fell 10 percent, but the results beat analysts' forecasts.

And to wrap what’s been a promising week for our new security site, SC Magazine, here’s a quick Q&A with Editor, Negar Salek, to give you some insight into what this exciting new publication has to offer.

Q: What’s the history of SC Magazine?
Launched in 1994 as a monthly magazine for IT professionals, SC Magazine has since become the longest running information security magazine in the world, with the widest distribution.

SC’s global arm has spread across the world from US to Canada to UK to mainland Europe. More recently the Asian Pacific Online version was launched, which is viewed in over 20 countries in the Pacific region. Naturally this led us to bring the magazine to our shores where we now have a specific online version for Australian and NZ decision makers.

Q: What does SC offer readers?
SC will provide IT security professionals with in-depth and unbiased information through timely news, comprehensive analysis, cutting-edge features, contributions from leading experts and the most extensive collection of product reviews in the business.

Q: The site also has interactive features for IT security professionals…
We at SC Magazine Australia are very excited about the interactive features available on the site. Our team of experts have put together real-time security threats and alert updates from around the world which are linked to interactive maps that pinpoint the regions in the world most at threat.

Q: What can readers look forward to as SC evolves?
SC will evolve to be Australia’s one-stop-shop for security news. We will enhance our reader’s experience with continual interactive enhancements, first in line are our first pod and webcasts. We will also bring together leading Australian security experts with regular open table discussions, and of course we will update our readers regularly with up-to-date newsletters so they’re aware of everything we’re doing at SC.
