Welcome to the morning edition of the iTnewswire.

This morning, Intel is to open up parts of its network server systems to third-party developers in a bid to encourage the development of software optimised for its latest processors.

Moore's Law is unable to keep up with the computing demands of Web 2.0 companies and enterprises that rely heavily on simulations and data analysis, according to Jonathan Schwartz, chief executive at Sun Microsystems.

Apple has reported a 27 percent jump in profits in the fiscal fourth quarter on strong sales of Mac computers and about 39 million iPods.

With companies such as Reuters, Sun Microsystems and IBM all having rushed to stake their claims in the popular online world of Second Life, corporate culture is booming in virtual reality.

Increasingly stringent government and industry regulations, combined with an ongoing assault from cyber-criminals and malware, will force organisations to revamp security policies, IDC has predicted.

Can Moore’s Law still cut it? Can the iPod carry Apple forever? Mail your comments
