Welcome to the afternoon edition of the iTnewswire.

This afternoon, Microsoft's plan to provide limited access to the Vista kernel in the 64-bit version of the upcoming OS is not enough, a Symantec executive has said.

Yahoo on Tuesday reported a more than 37 percent drop in net income in the third quarter, as the company saw a weakening in ad sales and a tenfold rise in the cost of stock-based compensation.

Apple could roll out two iPhone models early next year, according to several media reports citing patent filings and an analyst's inside information.

The recording industry on Tuesday announced the filing of 8,000 lawsuits in 17 countries in an effort to deter music piracy on file-sharing networks.

Sony is to recall 90,000 of its Vaio laptop batteries in Japan and China, adding its name to the list of PC vendors recalling Sony batteries.
