Welcome to the afternoon edition of the iTnewswire.

This afternoon, the UN will hold its Internet Governance Forum on 30 October to discuss the future of the Internet, especially as it relates to access, security, diversity and emerging issues.

Microsoft has compromised with security vendors who've been demanding access to the kernel of the upcoming Vista operating system so that they can update their security offerings.

The software developer’s upgrade to Internet Explorer will also be automatically pushed to desktops later this month, but a Web testing firm has warned that many companies may not be ready for it.

Apple and Motorola have begun selling red-coloured electronics in the United States to raise awareness and money for the fight against AIDS in Africa, as well as tuberculosis and malaria.

The personal trainer, once the must-have accessory of rich, image-obsessed Californians, is now within the reach of more people thanks to new technology.

Where should the Internet go in terms of access, security and diversity? Will Vista be more secure with an open kernel? Mail your comments.
