Welcome to the morning edition of ITnewswire,

This morning, a Star Trek fan has paid more than $750,000 for a model of the Starship Enterprise. The 78 inch model of the iconic starship sold at Christie's in New York, dramatically beating its initial estimate of $40,000.

Google has agreed to acquire video site YouTube for US$1.65 billion in stock, a move that greatly expands the search engine giant's advertising reach in online video.

MySpace is working with Oxfam America to launch company's largest philanthropic effort yet. Oxfam is hopeful that MySpace can help raise awareness and money for those suffering in Sudan.

A controversial IT expert has clashed with Microsoft after arguing that information technology has been reduced to utility status and no longer adds a competitive advantage to companies.

The company has also nixed the Most Valuable Professional award given to a developer last week because his software is distributed with known adware.

Will YouTube lose its edge once it is flooded with Google ads? Is IT a mere utility? Mail us your comments.
