The Crunch: AusCERT vs CERTAus; Conroy at NICTA

What do you mean it isn't called CERTAus?

Speaking at the Australia Information Security Association (AISA) annual seminar in Sydney this week, the director of GovCERT David Campbell attempted to explain how the organisation,  which recently changed its name to CERT Australia, differs from AusCERT.

We were, if anything, more confused about the relationship between the two CERTS after his explanation than we were before.

Minister for Broadband Senator Stephen Conroy officially opened the new research laboratory and headquarters of National ICT Australia (NICTA) in Sydney on Thursday.

Senator Conroy, who called the new building "stunning", said it was about time NICTA moved out of its old HQ.

"For years we have enjoyed the charm of one of Australia's top innovation bodies living among the relics of the industrial past of Eveleigh railway workshops. It is only fitting that NICTA has high tech premises to match its high end endeavors," Conroy told the audience.
