Networking and security distributor Firewall Systems has partnered Check Point Software and Resilience Corporation to market a firewall, VPN and security appliance bundled with Firewall services.

Nick Verykios, marketing director at Firewall Systems, said the agreement would enhance the Sydney distributor's threat management offering to the channel.

Firewall Systems would offer resellers a bundle based on a set of Firewall's services and Check Point's premier firewall application running on Resilience integrated High Availability (iHA) appliances, he said.

"[Services would include] Fireproof policy design, assessment, audit services and vulnerability management, Firewatch management of the Check Point software and Fireblanket advance replacement," Verykios said.

"And that is added to FireProof Logistics -- installation, configuration, patch management [and so on]."

Firewall Systems had already provided a Check Point Software managed service.

"[Resilience and Check Point] picked us because there's a bunch of security services we're adding into it," Verykios said. "There's a whole bunch of things -- it's not just putting a box on."

"The market was telling us that customers wanted a high availability platform that was hardened for this application," he said.

When it failed over, you didn't need a double Check Point licence to get the necessary redundancy, Verykios said.

Scott Ferguson, regional director at Check Point Software, said the partnership would provide policy and planned architecture for organisations' security defences.

"Lack of policy and planned architecture results in defences that are over-engineered, unmanageable, and costly," Ferguson said in a statement.

Mark Gamon, general manager for the Asia Pacific region at US-based Resilience, said Firewall Systems had similar business strategies to Resilience on network security and high availability.

Firewall Systems' FireProof Logistics and FireBlanket services paralleled Resilience’s 5 to Live GUI for high availability firewall deployment.

"Keeping network security operational is the key issue in maintaining business continuity in the current business environment," Gamon said.
