AFL's Demons recruit Kaspersky

Russian anti-virus vendor Kaspersky Lab has inked a three-year sponsorship deal with the Melbourne AFL team, the Demons.

It includes placing the software company's logo on the players' backs, signs, coach's sponsorship, website advertising and hospitality, Kaspersky said.

Kaspersky has recently established offices in the Docklands precinct of Melbourne as a prelude to expanding its Australian operations.

Demons chief executive officer Cameron Schwab likened the vendor's growth to the Grand Finals aspirations of the football team.

Kaspersky's Asia-Pacific managing director Harry Cheung said it was the company's first sports sponsorship.

"The Demons have a bright future and we look forward to providing them with the financial support they need to ensure the team achieves its goals," Cheung said.

The company's Australia and New Zealand managing director, Alexey Gromyko, said the deal lifts the company's branding Australia.

Kaspersky was founded in Moscow in 1997 by Eugene Kaspersky (pictured).
