Adobe has issued a second fix for a vulnerability in its Reader and Acrobat PDF viewers.

The company has released an update for Acrobat and Reader versions 7 and 8 for MacOS X and Windows operating systems.

The update patches a vulnerability in the handling of PDF which, if exploited, could allow an attacker to remotely execute code on a targeted machined. Adobe had first warned of the flaw late last month.

Last week, the company issued an update for version 9 of both Reader and Acrobat, the first official patches to be released. Two weeks prior, a security researcher had crafted a home-made patch to address the flaw.

The update nearly completes patching for the flaw, which has been the target of limited attacks since its discovery. Adobe is hoping to issue a fix for Unix versions of Reader and Acrobat by next Tuesday.
