A free support service is helping local ICT companies make their mark in the lucrative Japanese market.

Japanese market open to Aussie ICT companies
Held annually in October, Tokyo, Japanese External Trade Organisation’s (JETRO) Bizmatch@CEATEC provides Australian companies in the fields of ICT and technology with the opportunity to find potential business partners in Japan.

A Japanese Government initiative, JETRO facilitates pre-arranged business matching meetings between Australian companies and interested Japanese firms. JETRO also provides full interpretation services and seminars on the Japanese market during the event, administering the program free of charge for Australian companies.

Local developers MYstaff Pty Ltd have been able to travel to Japan last month to participate in the JETROICT business matching program, JETRO Bizmatch@CEATEC 2007.

MYstaff, which has developed an Internet-delivered Human Resources Management system, turned their attention toward Japan after recognising the potential for their product, and used JETRO Bizmatch@CEATEC as a ‘first step’ into the Japanese market.

Graham Kelly, MYstaff CEO said the JETRO bizmatching program removed a lot of barriers in building relationships in Japan.

"JETRO arranged over 10 meetings, including companies such as Fujitsu and Hitachi and we’ve already heard back from nine of the companies and we are now negotiating a trial of our software in Japan,” said Kelly.
