Threat Expert Limited, a subsidiary of PC Tools, today launched an update to its automated malware threat detection and analysis website, Threat Expert, now allowing users to receive security reports on suspicious websites in a matter of minutes.

Whenever a user comes across a suspicious website or possible security threat, they can submit it to the Threat Expert website where it will be decoded and analysed for hidden malicious uses, claimed PC Tools.

Developed by the same team who created PC Tools’ Spyware Doctor, the website www.threatexpert.com, features a malware encyclopedia with information on thousands of threats, a world threat atlas and current advice relating to the geographic distribution of threats.

Within minutes, users will receive an email report, detailing the behavioural effects and changes that the suspected threat could make to a computer upon infection, claimed PC Tools CEO, Simon Clausen.

“Threat Expert can analyse and then generate up to 1000 highly detailed threat descriptions per server, per day. This provides for virtually unlimited scalability to handle hundreds of thousands of threats a day.”

"It marks a new era in malware detection technology as it produces reports with the level of technical detail that exceeds anti-virus industry standards,” he said.

Other website features include updated detailed report browsers, current threat listings, online file and side effect scanners.
