IronPort Systems’ customers are now able to automatically receive messaging encryption features to their existing email security appliance after purchasing an additional license.

IronPort Systems integrates encryption to message security
IronPort Systems, a Cisco business unit, today announced the integration of its data loss prevention (DLP) and encryption technology for email to its existing AsyncOC spam and virus filtering security appliance.

After purchasing an encryption license from any IronPort reseller, users will be able to automatically encrypt and decrypt incoming and outgoing mail, said Michael J. Bosch, managing director IronPort Systems Africa, A/NZ.

The appliance can also provide content scanning, message encryption, quarantining and archiving.

“Customers look to us to stop spam and viruses from entering their network and to help them address the emerging DLP requirements,” said Tom Gillis, SVP of marketing at IronPort Systems.

“We are happy to deliver a DLP solution that embraces their existing email security appliances while also providing usability, flexibility and management,” said Gillis.

Users do not need to install any proprietary software regardless of which mail client is in use and no additional hardware is required to filter, route and deliver the messages, claimed IronPort.

However, users will be required to determine a policy in line with their organisation’s security measures.

Last January, networking giant Cisco Systems acquired the messaging security vendor, IronPort Systems, for US$830 million.
