Dataflex and Acer rolls out DEWR deal
Local reseller, Dataflex, through its partnership with Acer has completed the primary rollout of 4500 PCs at the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).

Under the contract, worth around $10m, Dataflex will rollout Acer's Veriton PCs and LCD's across 4500 seats throughout DEWR’s departments over the next three years.

So far 500 units have been rolled out since September 2005. The contract also includes Acer management of the standard operating environment for the department as well as asset tagging and image loading.

Andrew Gersbach Dataflex general manager said the rollout timings were especially important to DEWR as downtime is something they cannot afford.

The Acer and Dataflex offering was especially attractive, providing zero downtime installation with hardware that is complete with the image loading and asset tagging, said Gersbach.

Dataflex, with Acer, is also providing the Department with a decommissioning program which will dispose of their old PC hardware that will be replaced as part of the rollout.

The old machines will be taken to the Acer Integration Centre, located in Lidcombe, Western Sydney.
