A little yellow goes a long way

Software running on Anthology Solutions’ Yellow Machine storage appliance - launched in Australia late last year - has been upgraded with VPN termination which lets users access the machine remotely.

The Yellow Machine - a storage appliance targeted at SMBs - offers at least of 1TB storage, RAID protection and EMC Restrospect backup software.

Version 3.0 of the machine's operating software also includes Active Directory and Masterpiece disk scrubbing technology, which offers continual monitoring of the disk data. All customers using version 2.93 software will get a free upgrade to version 3.0.

The Yellow Machine storage appliance provides SMEs, SOHOs and even the digital home with storage, security and networking features once designed specifically for the enterprise network, the company claimed.

Anthology Solutions, the maker of the Yellow Machine is headed up by Netgear’s former president Roy Robidoux.

Former senior VP sales & marketing at Buffalo Technologies, Stephen Dix heads up the company’s global sales team and ex-AMD ANZ country manager, John Robinson is country manager for the ANZ region.

John Robinson said the company has experienced great interest in the yellow box. Both he and Dix have been able to bring on board Tecksel Australia and Cradle Technologies to distribute the product.

“Stephen Dix established a strong relationship with Tecksel Australia during his time at Netgear. I was AMD’s ex country manager and through the company I established strong ties with Cradle Technologies.”

Robinson said there where no plans to sign any other distributor or even go into the retail chain at this point of time.

“Harvey Norman-- not right now. I can’t even think about that today. Through my experience with AMD there’s quiet a lot that needs to be sorted out before we can even contemplate taking the product into a retail environment."
