Fujitsu to deploy Western Australian cloud node

Fujitsu plans to deploy a new cloud compute node in its Malaga data centre in Western Australia.

The node, to come online in November, means the service provider will have cloud platform operations in data centres on the East and West coasts of Australia.

The company said it would reduce latency for Western Australian customers accessing its cloud services, and allow existing customers to have a disaster recovery option at their disposal.

The cloud service includes infrastructure, platform, software, IT management and unified communications as-a-services.

"We made a strategic investment in our cloud a few years ago and our early lead in the market has allowed us to build additional capability on our already strong base," Fujitsu A/NZ CEO Mike Foster said in a statement.

"There is a strong business case for establishing a cloud presence in Western Australia.

"The new cloud capability will provide a local entry point for customers on the West coast, and will also address the needs of our national customers, with geographical separation of sites within the same country."
