iTnews on tour: The Executive Summit Series

I’m excited to announce that in 2012, iTnews is hosting a series of free, half-day executive summits to dive deeper into some of the pertinent industry issues dominating the headlines.

It’s an opportunity for you to be inspired by some of the most eloquent voices in the industry, to network with your peers over a drink, and to meet your favourite tech news team face-to-face.

To ensure each event is most relevant to you, we’ve focused them on specific industries, which will set the context for our discussions about trends that have a broad impact in corporate IT.

Also, each event has also been co-curated by one of your most respected peers – again, to ensure you’ll get the most out of the day.

We kick off in Sydney on Friday 24 February with a half-day event (2pm-6:30pm) focused on technology in the banking and finance sector, with a schedule of speakers co-curated by Commonwealth Bank CIO Michael Harte.

Harte has forgiven me for crowning him Australia’s first ‘celebrity CIO’ and will get our brainboxes humming with predictions and provocations before we dive into two broad technology trends: cloud computing and BYO Devices.

How can the industry embrace either with an eye on mitigating risk? We’ve tracked down some answers from the likes of David Pegrem, head of IT risk at Australia’s banking and finance regulator APRA, Gartner’s mobile guru Robin Simpson and Ross Windsor, the technology architect driving strategy at Suncorp.
