The NSW Government has added vendor and research representatives to the ICT industry advisory panel it has been building over the past two months.

Notable private sector appointees were IT services firm CSC's CTO Bob Hayward, Intel A/NZ managing director Phillip Cronin, Gartner group vice president Warren Anderson and CSG's Barry Dietrich.

CSIRO ICT centre director Dr Ian Oppermann was also awarded a spot on the panel, as was consultant and former CIO Jane Treadwell.

They joined Deutsche Bank's head of information enterprise services, John Baird, who took the role of chair last month.

The NSW Government received about 200 applications to join the advisory panel.

The formation of the panel came on the back of a recently-introduced ICT governance framework for the state.

The advisory panel will report to an ICT Board of agency directors-general, as will an ICT leadership group of agency chief information officers and executives.

Subsets of the panel and leadership group would form time-limited working groups to support any strategic ICT initiatives as required.

"The first meeting of the Panel will take place very shortly to enable the group to provide direct input into the development of the NSW Government's ICT Strategy," the state's minister for finance and services Greg Pearce said.

"Membership to the panel will be for an initial 12-month period, meaning for those who missed out there will be an opportunity to join the group at a later stage through membership rotation."
