Queensland reseller Frontier Solutions & Strategies has signed a deal to distribute Matias ergonomic keyboards in Australia and New Zealand -- including a one-handed model.

Frontier Solutions & Strategies said in a statement that it had become the first international reseller to distribute the Matias 508 Keyboard from Canadian vendor Matias.

The reseller said it had exclusive distribution rights and was seeking other resellers that wanted to push the keyboards.

Paul Hughes, managing director at Frontier Solutions & Strategies, said the Matias 508 was an economical, standard desktop keyboard for one-handed and two-handed typing.

The ergonomic design met occupational health and safety requirements, he said.

Users with conditions such as hemiplegia or carpal tunnel syndrome could work normally on the keyboard and it would also help users wanting to answer phone calls or use a mouse while typing, Hughes claimed.

“The Matias 508 Keyboard is the first one-handed keyboard that doesn’t require learning a new way to type,” he said.

One-handed typing functionality at 30 to 60 words a minute was switched on with a special "matias" key. PC or Mac versions were available.

Five-year-old Frontier Solutions & Strategies sells software, hardware and services in Australia and New Zealand.

Frontier Solutions & Strategies also has vendors such as AccessData, Natcomm, Netcomm and WhiteCanyon on its books.
