A man will appear in court next month over child pornography charges, following a search and seizure of photo albums and computer hard drives from a house in Newcastle.

Newcastle detectives searched a house in Islington's Coal Street on 27 April where they allegedly found a photo album containing pornographic images.

The police also found two computer hard drives, which they impounded for "further examination".

A 61-year-old man was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station for questioning.

He has been charged with one count of allegedly possessing child pornography and will appear in Newcastle Local Court 24 May.
