Legend building flash media

ASX-listed Legend Corporation has released locally manufactured Secure Digital flash media to take advantage of the growing market for digital cameras, MP3 players and digital storage.

Flash memory manufacture was a perfect addition to its core memory module business as it provided more sales opportunities due to flash not being dependent on the sale of a PC or PC upgrade, said Rob Kester, sales director at Legend.

The continued adoption of digital photography, music and storage is allowing us to sell multiple flash media to the same consumer.

Legend flash media is being sold through resellers, OEM partners, and mass merchants such as Dick Smith Electronics, Target, Kmart and Harvey Norman.

“We have continually ramped sales of this product around 30 percent per month in the last year and we expect to deliver around $30 million [in] sales of flash products over the next year,” he said.

"Flash sales worldwide in 2003 were US$11.6 billion, in 2004 they were US$15.9 billion and we expect the market to continue to expand this year as more and more consumers engage in the use of digital devices that utilise this technology, in particular mobile phones and digital cameras," Kester said.
