Oracle updates virtualisation offerings

New versions of client and management platforms released.

Oracle has updated its Sun Ray Plus Client and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure virtualised workstation tools.

The Sun Ray platform was developed as a thin client offering and allows administrators to host workstations on a central server accessed through low-power end-user terminals.

Oracle claimed that the Sun Ray Plus 3 Client provides better energy efficiency with an Energy Star 5.0 certification, along with support for faster networking platforms and USB 2.0 connections.

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 3.1.1, meanwhile, will expand compatibility by adding support for Windows 7, networking support for Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualisation platform and improved performance for Oracle's VM VirtualBox.
