New server and storage systems from IBM for midmarket

IBM has launched a new set of server and storage products aimed at the mid-sized datacentre.

The IBM System x3620 M3 Express server is built around Intel's Xeon chips and is designed for data-heavy processing with high storage, such as for social networks and transaction systems. It uses integrated RAID adapters for storage security and has improved energy efficiency.

The new DS3500 Express storage system links with Fibre Channel, iSCSI and SAS connectors to provide an entry level backup and processing unit for addition to datacentres.

IBM has surveyed over a thousand midsized company chief executives and found that 78 per cent expect business complexity to grow significantly over the next five years, but only 54 per cent know how to deal with it successfully.
