Resellers will soon be able to increase their knowledge of wireless and VPN technologies with a series of one-day courses offered by Netgear in November.

The short courses are aimed at helping resellers gain the information and experience they need to meet customer expectations in the growing wireless and VPN markets.

When it comes to wireless and VPN, "resellers are being thrown into the deep end", said Ryan Parker, national ISP account manager at Netgear.

"[The courses] take both a theoretical and hands-on approach to these technologies, enabling resellers to better service their customers," said Parker.

There are two separate courses, the first covering the theory and practical construction of wireless networks, the second focusing on the theory and construction of VPNs.

Participants will not only gain experience with Netgear products, but also using Netgear and third-party products in the same network.

Parker said the courses were aimed at smaller resellers who might not be able to dedicate resources to more expensive training programs.

Parker indicated that having better educated resellers would reduce frustration for both resellers and customers, reducing the demand for technical support.

He added that there would be further benefits for the channel as the training means more confidence for resellers taking new technology to market.

The intensive courses were trialled earlier this year in Sydney, Adelaide and more recently in Melbourne.

The trials proved popular and now will be run throughout November in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.
